  • Overview

    The IT Support Specialist is the first point of contact for employees seeking technical assistance for computer and software related issues via phone, email, or in person. Although the position will be primarily supporting the Tysons Corner office, you will routinely assist the Sr. Systems Administrator, and on occasion provide backup support for the Hunt Valley, MD office.


    • Responds to Help Desk inquiries, creates/tracks trouble tickets, and documents resolutions
    • Troubleshoots desktops/laptops, peripherals, handheld devices, printers, and software related issues
    • Provides support to executive VP’s and company President with occasional on-site support at home residences
    • Assists the System Administrator on project assignments
    • Updates and patches computer systems using operational tools and processes
    • Ensures company owned equipment, peripherals, and software are properly maintained and in compliance with all licensing entities
    • Able to provide transportation, meet and exchange equipment with Hunt Valley office personnel
    • You will have a counterpart at the Hunt Valley office and must be able to travel to and provide support at this location during his/her vacation leave up to two times a year


    1. Strong experience with
      - Microsoft Windows 7/8/10 desktop platforms
      - Microsoft Windows 2008/2012R2 server platforms
      - Microsoft Office 2010/2013 productivity applications
    2. Create users and manipulate objects in Active Directory
    3. Knowledgeable with wired and wireless networking standards and protocols
    4. VoIP Phone System administration IP phone provisioning (Mitel and Shoretel Preferred)


    • A+ Certification and Network + Certification required
    • Working knowledge of common operating systems and Office productivity software
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Friendly presence and helpful attitude; good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others
    • Ability to provide technical support over the phone, professional demeanor, previous customer service experience helpful
    • Good problem solving skills; ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it
    • Ability to handle constantly changing flow of traffic; remain productive during slow times, be able to multitask effectively during busy times, exercise patience and professionalism during stressful situations
    • Ability to work responsibly without direct supervision
    • On-call schedule during emergency situations or after hours maintenance
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs. independently
    • Ability to travel to other offices as needed
