Overview

Naylor Association Solutions, a leading provider of member engagement and revenue-generating solutions for professional and trade associations, is looking for a part-time Editorial Assistant to support the efforts of our client publication, the Journal of Electronic Defense (JED).  This position will work directly with JED editorial staff to manage the production process, generate content, and provide research, editing and other editorial-related support. 

 

This is a part-time position expected to work 25 hours/week within normal business hours and can work out of either our Tysons Corner, VA office, Alpharetta, GA office, or Gainesville, FL office.

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop content for print and online use, which may include reaching out to association members to solicit information and/or articles
  • Edit articles for content and substance; proofread articles for spelling, grammar, style and layout; streamline all content, maintaining consistency through each publication
  • Edit and assemble proofs, media kits, weekly newsletters, and other publications
  • Source and choose artwork/visuals from various outlets to illustrate publications
  • Adhere to production schedule, keeping all involved parties (internal and external) on schedule
  • Conduct research to assist with product and industry surveys
  • Conduct research and analysis of industry to assist with maintenance of product/company databases and to update resource guides as necessary
  • Assist Editors with typing and setting of proofs and formatting files to adhere to layout standards
  • Assist Editors with administrative tasks such as copying, scanning, typing and filing as necessary

Qualifications

  • Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, English, Communications, or similar
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Familiarity with the defense industry preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with knowledge of grammar/AP style
  • Resourceful, able to multi-task and think critically in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Self-starter who can operate without continual instruction or supervision
  • Detail oriented with commitment to high level of accuracy in research and input of research information for published use
  • Proficiency in conducting Internet searches with a variety of search engines
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Proficiency in a variety of computer software programs such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time
  • Ability to conduct self according to Naylor’s operating values, which include operating with honesty and integrity, and in a spirit of teamwork and respect
